Zelda fans had a long wait before
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past was released in April
1992, but it was worth it. The first Zelda adventure for the
Super NES proved to be even bigger and more exciting than the
original game. In fact, Zelda: A Link to the Past, turned to
be the best RPG ever made to that date, and set a new level of
interactive entertainment.
Set in an ancient time of fabulous palaces and bold warriors,
A Link to the Past chronicles nothing less than a cataclysmic
struggle between the forces of Light and Dark. Indeed, Link must
venture from Hyrule into the Dark World, a place of overwhelming
misery and suffering.
Taking full advantage of the Super NES's 16-bit processing power,
A Link to the Past brought unprecedented detail and richness
to adventure games. Link must explore multistory castles, towers
and pyramids. Vivid touches like the fog shrouding the Lost Woods
enhanced the player's sense of magic and drama. For A Link to
the Past, developer Shigeru Miyamoto and his team created one
of the most memorable casts of characters ever to grace a video
game, including the elusive lord of Hyrule's waterways, Zora;
the telepathic sage, Sahasrahla; and the perfidious magician,
Agahnim.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to
the Past´s popularity was immediate and enduring. Even
today, Nintendo players consistently rate it one of their favorite
video games of all time.
