Magic beans, Zelda board game, players without pacience and more
in this new edition of letters:

Problems with Woodfall Temple
I just beat the woodfall temple
and am trying to follow the butler in the Deku Shrine. If I go
back in time, would I still be able to access the shrine or would
I have to beat the Boss in the WoodFall Temple again?
LionHeart4001
You
must beat Odolwa again and return the princess to the king and
then you can continue playing with the butler.
How did we do it?
Hi Im the dude who calls himself
Agahnim at your site. I was wondering if you guys could tell
me how you created your site? I think the layout is great. Im
actually doing a site of my own and I would like to use a layout
that reminds of yours (if you dont have anything against me doing
so(I would like to repeat that I want to use a layout similar
to yours NOT an exact copy of what you guys have)). I hope you
can help me out (I realy dont have anything against impressing
my Webdesign-teacher and the other students in my class). :)
P.S Did I tell you that your site is the best on the net?
Simon Llanso
Thanks
for the comments on the site, however, as we have mentioned several
times before, we cannot help people with design techniques simply
because we don¥t have time to attend to all those requests.
We need to focus strictly on our activities or we wouldn¥t
have time to update the site.
Nevertheless, I strongly suggest you take a look at these sites,
they are focused on exactly what you are looking for: Screamdesign, Webmonkey, Macromedia I'm sure you will find
those really interesting and helpful, good luck!
Owl Statues - Woodfall
2
Ok...i am getting ready to get
into the woodfall temple...i am standing at the thing where you
play the song to enter the woodfall temple..there is also an
owl statue here. To get all the way here, i had to save the witch,
take the boat cruise, disembark at deku palace...grow magic beans,
sneak into deku palace to learn monkey's song, then i went through
the thing and learned the owl's song...and now im finally at
the entrance. Is it alright if I play the song of time to save
and go back to day 1, and then warp to the owl statue at the
entrance of woodfall temple and beat it? Or do i have to beat
it in the same 3 day period as I did everything else to get there?
I think it's alright if i save first b4 beating the temple..something
tells me t his is why the owl statue is there, so you can go
straight to the temple instead of having to do all the other
stuff over everytime...? Am i right?
AbrcrmbieW
The
owl statue is there so you can return to the dungeon without
doing all that stuff again. Just do it, don't be afraid, the
game is not going to eat you if you do it wrong. :)
Lizard... what??? Oh
no! Another one...
How do you get the lizard mask?
I've looked everywhere HELP ME!
Laurie Charette
NOT
AGAIN, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Kalisa returns...
I'm back!!! Mwahahahah cough..ha
ahem.
Geez, I have besmirched the name of true Zelda fan. About the
letter in reply to my letter about the tigers in Hyrule and such,
Dr Acula is right. As soon as I read it my mind did a run through
of Hyrule and then it hit me: the blue potion lady. I remember
using c-up many times to take a look at the cute little kitten
(that thing is a tiger, isn't it?).
Sigh...I guess I goofed. Good catch Dr Acula.
The sometimes incorrect,
Kalisa the Great
Kitty,
Kitty, Kittyyyyyyyyy...
Why do people love Majora's Mask?
I have to say this. why do..people
like majora's mask? look, where does....."Zelda" even
come in--It saddens me to see a disgrace. yes, I love zelda.
not this tho. no more princess. no more hyrule...just think.
zelda is gone forever in one big game release. im sorry.
sadd zelda lover
If
you really loved Zelda so much you should know this is not the
first time Zelda DOES NOT appear in a Zelda game. For instance:
Link's Awakening; No Zelda, No Hyrule, No Ganon, No Triforce,
great fun.
People like Majora's Mask because it's simply one of the best
Zelda games ever created. Period.
Zelda commercials
While watching WWF's Superstars,
I saw that WWF wrestlers Matt and Jeff Hardy were to be in a
new commercial advertising Zelda:Majora's Mask. It would show
them wrestling and then seeing "The one" from Radiozelda
playing Majora's mask and stop to watch it. Not too much was
shown but that was the gist of it. It said to look for it's premier
during WWF Raw is War on TNN starting at 9:00 (EST) just thought
ypu's liek to know and let others know
on your website.
Link64
Thanks
for the info!
The Instruction booklet does exist...
Hi,
9If you know anything on the game "Majora`s Mask" please
answer my question. If not say no.
Anyways, I`m really stuck on finding out from a Goron learning
the move Stomp cause that`s what it says in the walkthroughs.
And I have searched high and low. Another question, if you go
to Goron Village, you`ll notice this huge chunk of ice in the
middle of this cave where a sign says "Goron Shop"
or something like that. how do i melt that if i tried using the
warm water in one of my bottles but it won`t work? do you have
any suggestions? It would really help me out. PLEASE WRITE BACK
Angela
(Reading the Instruction Booklet)
To melt the big chunk of ice you need the fire arrows, but you
will find them later. And to do the Stomp or Pound move press
B while holding A to curl and you will be able to stomp the ground.
Just check your instruction booklet!!!
An expert speaks
I read that letter from the 27th
that told about abusive operators on damaged.net. Quite frankly,
I have no idea what they are talking about. I have yet to see
someone (besides myself one, but that's a different story...)
unjustifiably banned. The biggest problem is those users who
choose to ignore and not read the /motd for the server which
clearly outlines the rules and regulations for the nework. Seeing
as how many of the ops who sit in #htloz_chat are server administrators,
it only makes sense that the rules will be enfoced. Perhaps it
would be prudent to copy the rules and post them on the chat
page?
In other news, I see IZC's been removed from the Top Zelda Sites
list...could yo explain that? I mean...we *are* the most frequently
updated of all the major Zelda fan sites. And obviously your
standards aren't very high if ZHQ is still there. =P
The Thorn in Your Sides,
Maniacal Clown
Let's
see. So you haven't seen any problems at the chat? I guess you
are not plugged into the chat the whole day to say something
like that, are you?
In other news, your news is not news. The top sites page has
been closed several months ago.
In the past, several sites dropped down the top sites list for
lack of votes. Enough explanation?
Being the most updated doesn't mean being the best. You can update
all the time with tons of trivial stuff. That doesn't make a
site worth the visit. Some other sites may not update as often
or may never update again, however, what counts is the content,
not the frecuency of the updates. In a library, for instance,
you may not get new books, but the ones already on the shelves
are a source of magnificent knowledge. A magazine store isn't
necessarily better than a Library. Get the idea?
Thanks for visiting our site.
Get the first fairy
Where can you find the piece
of the fairy at the begining of the game?
Guner789
Yes, you can find it near the Stock Pot Inn, or
also there is one stray fairy at the laundry pool early in the
morning, so go and check it!
We agree 100%, ... well, what about
99?
You have been working with the
On-line Zelda fun area in 3-4 months.
I think that you should do something about it.
Herr Daniel from
Sweden!
That's
what I say.
Yeah! let's do something about it......ermmm.....
right??? : ) FX, you should keep working, and try to change that
grape face you have..... (comment by Zerofoxie while watching
Falco's slippy face after a long long day, but why "grape"?
That's a mystery so far...)
Ready... Set... GO!
Dear HTLOZ,
Recently I was going through a walkthru from on your site and
in a part it says you need to get these magic beans from a deku
merchant. However when I go to get them he says I don't know
how to use them.
Pleasew help me find out how to get these magic beans. Because
in the walkthru it suggests that the beans are mandatory to get
through the game.
Vegeta
Hello my name is Chris and I
need some help with the new Zelda game 'cause im stuck in here.
Ok, for some reason when I try to buy the magic beans for 10
rupees to the Deku scrub for the first time (so i can save the
monkey) he always tells me, oh you dont know how to use magic
beans? and he dont wants to sell me anything!! I have tried everything,
I also followed your walkthrogh step by step and he keeps saying
the same thing!! is there
something wrong with my game??
THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH FOR YOUR TIME.
Chris
Dear HTLOZ,
I just got the new Zelda game, Majora's mask, (it's so cool)
and my sister and I have been having one slight problem. We went
to your walk through, and it says to buy a seed from the guy
outside the camera place. Every time we talk to him, he says
(well it's something similar to) "Oh, you don't know how
to use magic bean seeds, so I can't sell you
any" We're stuck, if you could help it would be very much
appreciated.
Awesome site, keep up the good work, and thanks for all your
hard work to get so much stuff up on Majora's mask, especially
so close to the release.
Sincerely,
Knight121
The guy that sells the majic
beans says he cant sell them to me because i "don't know
how to use them." Is there something i am doing wrong or
havent done yet? Please help,
Jon Riehl
i'm stuck on Zelda. i can't get
past this one part. i have to buy a magic bean from the Deku
Merchant but when i'm normal Zelda, the merchant will ask me
for some kind of help... cus he says "you know what i'm
talking about?" and then i can chose to give him something...
but i don't know what i'm suppose to give him ... and then when
i talk to him with the Deku mask on he ask me if i want to buy
the magic bean.. for 10 ruppees.. i say yes.. and then he says...
"oh you don't know how to use the magic bean? i guess i
can't sell them to you then..." or soemthing close to that.....
so i need tha bean and i can't get it.. what do i need to do?
This is all taking place at the Magic Potion treehouse.... this
paticuliar Deku Merchant that is suppose to sell me tha bean
will not.. i need help.....
caleb
First
you need to learn how to use the magic beans, you must get inside
the Deku Palace and head right through the small maze until you
reach a hole, inside you will meet a guy who sells magic beans
and he will teach you how to use them. That way you will be able
to buy beans from the deku merchant.
Epona?
Yo Htloz! I have a very wanted
answer to my question. Is it possible on ocarina of time to ride
Epona as a kid? So if you find the answer than e-mail me at mailto:mani412@...
and hurry answering my question. See ya. bye
No name
NO. (was that fast enough?)
:#D
Whoa. I never realized how big
ya'll would become. I remember when I first stumbled over this
site a loooooong time ago. You've done things with your site
that just makes me sit back with awe. Do you rememeber me? I've
written a few times. It's hard to believe that you actually pulled
off getting your own domain, installing flash, and having the
largest Zelda archive on the net. Success is truly worth it if
you've earned it. In my opinion, you guys have earned it.
Nayru
Thanks so much Nayru! By the way, what have you
been doing all this time???
Zelda board game - ANSWER
This is to that guy who was asking
about the Zelda board game. I own one, and I'd be willing to
part with it, could you give him my e-mail or something, that'd
be great. Thanks (Great site!)
Cojiro
aliasguy21@yahoo.com
Thanks
for replying! We are showing your E-mail just to help people
get in touch with you. Good luck!
So little time... so many things!
Hey, about Majora's mask the
thing i am worried about is running out of time, and how do you
do one side quest out of time without doing mutiples or forgetting
which one you are suppost to do, can you help me i mean, what
happens if i am in a dungeon in the middle of fighting a boss
and the time runs out?
Vincent Cariello
If the time runs out... well, you die.
:)
"Dancing man"
I have waited for all 3 days
at both of the places where I see "ice structures."
The only thing I ever see is a ring of rocks on one of these
mushrooms. How am I supposed to get this dancing man's mask?
Where exactly are these ice structures.
I did see a guy through the telescope on a pillar, but the guy
is never there, only through the telescope. Please help, thanks.
Adam Whitehead
The dancing man (Kamaro) is there
every night. You should stand at the edge of the cliff (in front
of the mushroom with the ring of rocks) to hear his music. Then
just jump.
Getting Epona
I was wandering if you could
tell me how to get Epona from the ranch? and Where can I find
some glass bottles?
Any help is appreciated
Kilmo9
Please check the walkthrough, that's why we have it there!!!
What the?
This site is cool. I was wondering
why Link's Awakening was different from the other zelda games.
It isn't in Hyrule, it doesn't have Gannon, and it doesn't have
the triforce.
P.S. Espio is stupid and annoying.
Raptor15
Why? Because that adventure
takes place in an island known as Koholint, not Hyrule.
Why the big surprise? Majora's Mask has no Hyrule, no Ganon,
no Triforce, no Zelda. Anyway I believe ESPIO is on his way to
explain this to you personally....
Should I play, or having someone play
for me?
Dear htloz,
I recently bought Majoras Mask. I am having a bit of trouble
at the clock town. Should I get the guide, or do I just need
a little patience?
And, does the clock still run while I'm outside of the clock
town? Your answer would be greatly appreciated.
Matthew Flaherty
How long have you been
playing? two days? is that too long for a RPG as awaited as Zelda?
Are you a true gamer? Do you want to play games for yourself?
or you prefer somebody else to play for you? Did you pay for
the game? Do you really need an answer from me?
Purple fans
A while back you had this really
dumb guy telling you off about the site's coloring, and I would
like to point something out to him. To start with I would just
like to say the site's color shame goes great with the game and
wonderful on the eyes! Next, yes you could have gone with a very
ugly green and brown to honor Link's colors (greens and browns)
but instead you deiced to honor the reason he's doing this all
for: Zelda! Plus, the purple gives the site a more dignified
and royal look.
P. S, the flash animation is
wonderful and very well done!
Jeo the purplish.
Purple is a fun color,
it shows that we're not one of those "enter and be depressed"
sites.
Well, what about puting
the site in raibow colors just to bug him? ;)
Everybody loves purple!!
So?? why change it??? never!!! Vive le purple!!! :P
Thanks for your letter.
By the way, The purple was inspired by Zelda, exactly as you
explained.
The Triforce in Majora's
Mask???
Is there any chance of there
being any "find the Triforce" hoopla for the Mask Of
Majora like there was for Ocarina of Time? Mask of Majora isn't
in my possession yet, so I just wanted to know if the Triforce
is emphasized in Mask of Majora as much as it is in Ocarina of
Time.
Oh, you guys have like the best Zelda site ever, and I think
that Purple is a good color for a site- forget the homophobic
people out there.
Shadysys
Good god, I hope not.
I doubt it, besides,
you will never get to play Mask Of Majora. Mainly because it
is called Majora's Mask (Mask Of Mujula in Japan)
In response to Kalisa's
letter
Kalisa the Great said that in
the Archery shop there was a head of a tiger, and how suprised
they were to find a tiger in Hyrule. There is actually another
place in Hyrule that has a tiger roaming around. Now I don't
want to give it away, b/c if I did everyone would be hitting
themselves b/c it's so obvious. And why is Kalisa so suprised
about having tigers in Hyrule? We all know that R2-D2, our favorite
android, moonlights as a musical box in Hyrule.
So I encourage people to look far and wide for the great Hyrulean
tiger.
But speaking of the Archery shop has anyone noticed a gun behind
the counter?
Isn't this supposed to take place during medievial times? The
clerk probably has the gun so he can pop a cap whenever someone
tries to cheat.
Dr Acula
P.S. This is like the 5th frickin' letter I wrote to you guys
so please post it!
It
is posted, man!
Wouldn't it be depressing
if child Link got ripped to a bloody death while having a freindly
bombchu bolling game?
I
seriously doubt there is a tiger living in Hyrule, but if you
could find them in Castlevania! And about the shotgun...well,
Hyrule is not exactly medieval. It's a fantastic land. For example,
i've never heard of an organ in mediaval times. Organs are from
the barroc, centuries after mediaval times.
There are also some other objects and instruments that don't
match medieval times, but if you take a close look to most of
the RPGs you'll notice some objects simply don't match the date.
For example, in Chrono Trigger you can see sinks and fridges...in
the year 1000 AC? And humans living with dinosaurs in 65,000,000
BC? It just dosen't match, does it?
We certainly receive
too many letter like this one.
Hey HTLOZ, our website is taking
on a project of "recreating the Hylian Scrolls. We have
collected a bunch of information of what has to be in it, what
the reading has to be like, and we even thought of a legend behind
it. Now this is a big project, and I am the only one on my site
that has the knowledge of how to do this. We would like to extend
to you an invitation to join in on the project. Of course, it
will be a joint effort and I will give your site the credit as
well as my site for doing this. I plan to make the scrolls by
using Macromedia Flash. And I noticed that one of your workers,
Falco-X, is really knowledgable in that area, so he can be in
charge of that. Our website is located at http://www.geocities.com/hyrulianlegends/home.html
We are buying a domain name soon, so our address will be shorter
in the near future.
Link 101
He's
not a worker, he's the boss!
We
would help everybody if we could, but as you can imagine we are
having a hard job on our own site. Thanks for your letter!
Problems in the chat: abusive operators?
Lots of people on the chatroom
are getting kicked, and from my personal point of view, many
are for petty, insignificant matters that I would like to discuss.
I mean, my friend got kicked for disagreeing about something
totally not like chatroom stuff, like some weird argument I won't
get into.
He got banned, and I was talking to him on an instant messanger.
Now, get this. All I did was ask the op who banned him how long
this ban would be consistent for because this friend of mine
wanted to know, and he says stuff like "I'm not telling
you, it's none of your d*mn buisiness..." you know. I don't
think the ops should curse, if they are supposed to be setting
a nice example for other people in the room. And, momentarily
after that (i suppose
it took him a little while to type it up or something) I was
banned as well!
"And it's none of your buissiness, in case you didn't know!"
That's what basically was said. This is to whom it may concern.
Thanks for your time (and effort if you decide to take action)
MagicStarz
which
brings me to today's lesson: never argue with someone who can
kick you. Hard.
Ok,
now seriously, Thanks for the letter. We understand the problems
you guys may have. Sometimes it is really difficult to have control
over the operators running the chat because many of them are
not selected by me or any other staff member, but for the people
in charge of the chat server (damaged.net). I have complained
several times about the behaviour of some operators.
Don't worry, I have close contacts with the server administrators
that may help in solving this issue.
Thanks for your pacience.
This guy is new at the
neighborhood, right?
You've got a good website but
unless you just started it would be a good Idea to put art pages.
Michael Wilden
You
gotta be kidding, right?:
Fan
art of the moment
Fan

Zelda Dark Art
(the original Dark Art of course)
Art from Zelda 5
Art

Is that enough art for you? Or should we show you The Louvre too?
Meaning of Majora
Hello HTLoZ!!! I'll start out
my letter by saying that this site rox!! Ok, so any ways, I was
doin some screwing around with the internet, and I decide to
see what Majora really means, since it's sounds familiar. So
I search it, and what comes up? A house thing labeled Mas Majora.
All I would like to know is what Majora means! If you guys have
to any clue, please tell me!
Gonmon
Majora
(plural)
(1) To wear a big fat ugly mask and run around the local village
turning children into bush people.
(2) To annoy curious web surfers.
Scarecrows!
what do the scarecrows do?
im up to killin ganon.. again... i can get 3 of them to come
up.. how many is there? whats the point of them?
Gaz.
Scarecrows
scare crows, thus the name scare-crow.
You need to invent the scarecrows song (Mine sounds
like the X-Files music). At some parts in the temples you have
to play it and a scarecrow appears. You can use the hookshot
on it and land in it's plataform.
These plataforms tend to have goodies such as pieces of heart
or rupees.
Open Zelda questions
Hi there, htloz.com! I would
like to compliment you guys on the great site you have managed
to churn out and would like to say "thanks" for your
Z-LTTP and Z-LA walkthrus and cheats! These have helped alot.
Ok, about this "Open Zelda"
game. I have some questions.
1) When can I download it, and
where from?
2) I have designed many levels and quests for GraalOnline. Is
there any way I can get involved with the level designing when
the game engine is sorted?
3) The game will feature Zelda3 (LttP) graphics, right?
4) What have Nintendo said about this?
5) Do you or have you ever owned a dead monkey named George?
Hit me back, ot slam this little
thingy on that letter page if you want to.
ExODUS
PS - I have one-uped that "I beat Zelda-Link's Awakening
with no sword" guy with something even better - I beat Zelda-Link's
Awakening nwith no sword AND NO SHIELD! I got a "get out
of Tarin's House without the Shield" code from my Gb Action
Replay cartridge for Zelda-LA Dx. and managed to beat the game
with only, well, NOTHING apart from an ocarina (don't ask how
I got it) and a dead chicken (the flying rooster)
1)
When it is finished. Sometime in the future, but not near.
2) Email blazer for information. (This
must be private, sorry)
3) Right
4) Don't ask too much...
5) No, but I had a dead elephant. Man did it stink!
Miyamotos timeline
I was readin' the comments on
how the Miyamoto version of the time line supposedly doesn't
fit. Particularly the way it was stressed that a game developer
absolutely knows where each event lies chronologically, giving
some kind of doubt into his idea of time due to the fact he states
that there is not a definite time period as to where LA occurs.
Maybe it hasn't crossed anyone's mind, but has there ever been
the thought that his statement was also to give us a little bit
of mystery? I mean what would the series be if they came out
and told you how to beat all of the dungeons, gave you the locations
to all of the items and told you how everybody makes out in the
end right in the opening scenes? That's the whole point to the
game I thought, it is a big puzzle, you have to find out what
to do when, and how to do it. Also, the Zelda storyline is one
of the most loved aspects of the games, obviously! Granted a
game developer is usually not a creative genius as far as storyline
goes, but Mr. Miyamoto did come up with the story in the first
place, so I don't see why there is any reason his timeline can't
fit, even with loose ends (after all we are only on the sixth
game now, there may be many more (at least 3) to come, and who
knows what else
the next stories will reveal about the whole timeline thing -
for all we know Zelda 11 may reveal a Time Paradox (just an example
of our lack of knowledge on the subject, this is by no means
any theory I believe in) that traps link and all of these previous
adventures are learned to have taken place in some kind of distorted
time during a period where link was actually not doing these
things in the "real" Hyrule, but a mirror world or
a subconscious world; an example would be maybe the other games
(LA, LttP, AoL and so on) took place during the time Link was
"sleeping" for seven years in OoT in the Temple). Personally
I think everyone who has a deep opinion in the matter (as to
knowing exactly what goes where) is acting a little more informed
than they should. There is no way you can understand the entire
meaning a book if you have only read the first half of it. Sure
it is fun to speculate, but it is simply that, a speculation,
and that will be as good as it gets until the Zelda series is
(God forbid!) concluded. Until then, and perhaps even after,
all we can do is await the next game and add its 2 cents to the
over all puzzle.
Zelda3670 a.k.a.
Weatherer(HC)
You
disagree with Shigeru Miyamoto? His henchmen are probably allready
on their way.
That's
a very interesting point. But it would be really nasty if I found
out that all the adventures are only a dream. By the way, your
theory sounds a lot like Perfect Blue or Lain. OK, now go and
see if Satoshi Kon or Katsuhiro Otomo are in the game's credits.
Australian MM release
date confirmed
I know for a fact that the Australian
release date for Majora's Mask is 17 Nov
Bye
Bones
I allready knew, but
nobody pays attention to me.
ok
thanks for the info!
Australian MM release
date confirmed (part2)
Majora's mask hits stores in
Australia on November 17th.

Haha! Too Slow! :P
Beautiful eyes
hey, i saw the picture of the
deku princess on the demo at target, and i was wandering if her
eyes are the little white dots or the read dots close to her
mouth. the rest of the deku family have the red eyes but they
look out of place.if you could tell me the answer that would
be great cuz it's bugging the hell out of me.
FrostieSk8er
She
has some lovely pair of red eyes.
Zelda costumes
Do any of you know where to get
Zelda Costumes?
walsh
Yes.
Water Temple music
I'm looking for a midi file of
the Water Temple music from Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I was just
wondering if you had one, or knew where I could find one. In
your music section, there is a midi named "Undewater Serenad"
or something like that. I thought it could be what I'm searching
for, but the link is broken... I would appreciate it if you could
check it.
Thanks a lot, and keep up the good work! Your site is wonderful!
Alienore
Thanks
Ali, we are going to check that one and bring some new midis
to our collection. (We'll try to get that one you want)
