About OpenZelda

Do you know if this game will come out in stores like a normal game or will I have to go to some special game store or buy it on the net? If so do you know when it would be complete & in stores? The graphics of the game sort of look like the graphics of the new Game Boy Advance coming out next year.
Which system will it be on? Thank you.

This "Open Zelda" game will be distributed for free on the Internet. It will be PC compatible and will be downloadable from many sources, including HTLOZ.COM
The graphics looks more like Zelda 3 for SuperNes :)

The Hylian Loach secret

Hey guys! Firstly congratulations for providing the best zelda site on the web. Secondly I'm in need of help. I would call myself a zelda purist, i have liturally found everything in every (official) zelda game and beaten everyone many times. However there is one slight obsticle blocking my claim to fame in the Ocarina of Time, that annoying Hylian Loach. You know the one, its the eel like fish in the fishing pond. Now it can be caught because i have seen pictures on the web of people who have caught it but they never tell you how. Now for the life of me i cant catch it. Ive even had the lure on top of thing, liturally touching it but the little bas#$@ wont take it.
Now being the masters of zelda that you are surely one of you has caught it and can tell me how, as i dont want Majora's Mask to come along and something still unfinished in the previous game. Please help guys! Cheers ;)

As a matter of fact yes, we (or at least some of us) have caught it in one, or some (very few) opportunities. How to caught this difficult to find Hylian Loach? Well, I think Blazer has a technique:

The Loach, first you have to get the second lure, then catch the fish by the log in the middle of the pond.

Thats how i got it.

Majora's Mask in Australia

Your site is way cool and I like it a lot its my 2nd favorite site after IGN.
There is just one problem some of the noise on your pages are really annoying like the stupid goron baby crying i can hear it right now it is going to make me go insane waa waaa waaa im gonna start crying. And I bet everyone mutes it when they turn to that page and the zora band page plz have the crying only happen when you friggin click on it and stop when the animation is done it is really annoying!!!

Yes, we understand your problem. However you can easily stop the music/noises of the top animations just by clicking on certain secret spots. Maybe you can look for one of these spots to get rid of the stupid Goron baby. You'll be very happy :)

Who ever wrote those 300 jokes must have been in the 3rd grade. Half of them had incorrect verbs like "hears" instead of "sounds" or "that" Instead of "the". so most of them instead of being funny, which most weren't, were just plain annoying. You guys are doing a great job though. keep up the great Zelda coverage.

I just looked through the zelda merchandise you guys had on your site. Do you actually have all that stuff? Or just pictures of it to show on your site? I've been looking for the zelda board game for about a year now. I have been unable to abtain a copy. Do you know where I could get one? I've searched thousands of websites to find one. I even mailed a letter to Hasbro to see if they might still have one. But to my disappointment they didn't.
So if you could help me back that would be great.

No, we don't have ALL that stuff, just some of the items shown in the page. I'm sorry to tell you that I have no idea how to get a Zelda board game. I believe it's now impossible to get one since that item is no longer in production (as far as I know, please somebody correct me if I'm wrong). So I think you are not in your lucky day. If some reader has the Zelda board game and wants to trade it PLEASE let us know.

Graal Online

I'm not sure, but have you ever heard of Graal Online? (www.graalonline.com)
It used to be called 'Zelda Online' which was an online RPG that was based on Zelda: Link to the past(very well, in fact) . Due to copywrite crap, they changed thier name to Graal Online and are shying away from making it a Zelda type game (though it is still excessivly similar). It is also free to play.
It is well known, extremely customisable, and growing very quickly. Say you want a house to live in on the main server, you just build it and send it to them.
I see you people are affilaited to a project called Open Zelda, which is quite similar.
I think you guys should take a look see! ^_^

In your walkthrough at the bongo bongo section it says that we can find out how to increase the magic meter elswhere on this site. Well I have searched and searched and have not found this information anywhere. Could you please direct me to this link. Thanks

Oops... Looks like there is a mistake in the explanation of that part of the Walkthrough. Anyway don´t worry, you can find many magic bottles in that dungeon and even while fighting Bongo Bongo.

First I would like to say that I love your site and everything in it. Though the site had provided me with hours of enjoyment, (chat rooms are sooo much fun!!!) I have found Amethyst's discovery about the gender madallion, looks like a hoax. (they may all be like that, and that page on 'real' stuff may be a joke but...) Anyway. Even though I have not tryed to play my game 11 times in a row, I belive from memory it is impossible to type 'cookiesmooch' in as a name.

Also, the pictures that accompany the claim, well they look fake too, because when he is learing the song, you can barely see the title 'symphony of sexuality' it looks like it was placed over something. And the last picture, you can tell that was all painted on with some computer program.

Well, here we go again... The stuff shown in that section is obviously false. It is supposed to be a humor section, as stated in the category: Fan stuff/ Fan creativity (means it is actually CREATED by the Zelda fans)... and the sarcasm in the articles is more than obvious (Just look at the titles: The T-REX of Hyrule is real!, Princess Toadstool (Peach) wants to kill Zelda!, Link is a secret character in MORTAL KOMBAT! (Fatality included), Get PokÈmon in Z64, Link's morning breath, and many more). So we strongly recommend that you, (people out there who need some lessons on sarcasm) actually READ instead of rushing through the pages without even having a clue of what you are doing. Thanks for reading (I hope).

Insane questions from an insane reader

Lovely HTLOZ fan mail-reader,
I saw your "send nice cute and enjoyable letters" notice at the bottom of your Fan mail section and took it as an invitation. As an avid (nicer word for insane) Zelda fan, I adore your site. Your animations and info are beyond any zelda site I have been to, and I am still jealous of Espio who got to talk to Miyamoto. Anywho back to my original (although non-existing) point. Everytime I turn Link around in OOT I notice odd, well oddities.
Such as..
1) Link's shield and sword stick to his back with nothing holding them there. Is it static electricity or hylian super glue or what?
2) In the Slingshot and Archery game (the ones station in Castle Town and Kakariko) have tiger heads mounted on the walls. Tigers in hyrule?
3) The graveyard's sky is always a creepy black. Is that due to bongo-bongo interferance?
4) How can a cow fit down those tiny holes in the ground?
I'm not quite sure how answeres to these will get me the Triforce, but it would ease my mind and allow me to move on (and be obsessive about Majora's Mask).

Sexual colors...

First, let me just say that your website is probably the most fantastic unofficial website I have ever seen. I am a huge Zelda fan and I own all the games. (I'm even registered as "Link" over at the NintendoNation forums.) and it's refreshing to find such dedication to the greatest game series of all time.

On to why I wrote. While you're site has the best layout, music, sound, graphics, and art, the purple background is hurting you. People look past the amount of work put into the site, and immediately come to the conclusion that the site is "gay." I find that depressing, as no one seems to want to admit that they enjoy the site because of it's reputation people have assigned to it.

Perhaps changing the background to a less "controversial" color would seriously boost the appeal. (Green would be quite fitting.)

Of course, I'm in no place to tell you how to design your site, but I'd really like to see it get the recognition and appreciation it deserves.
Either way, keep up the excellent work.

Thanks but, if you believe colors determine peoples sexual preference then, my friend, you are in real trouble. We REALLY LOVE PURPLE, so does - at least - half of our readers, we are talking about women. The gay community will feel really bad about your comments, so be more sensitive. The institutional color of the site hasn't prevented "htloz" from becoming the most recognized Zelda site, no wonder we reached place Nr9 in the World Charts (Homepages category) in 1999, so I don't think purple is hurting us, maybe just your wrong perception of life. I dont think that Link marries Zelda from oot but Malon. Their are several reasons why, first of all the decendent of Link have read hair,(Link from a Link to the Past). Also, Mallow's dad would like Link to marry Malon one day and to work on the farm. And Link's Uncle from A Link to the Past Looks like Tarin. Also, in Oot, one of the gossip stones says that Malon waits for a night in shining armor; That describes Link because if Link is Zelda's brother then they can't get married, he would be a prince and a knight (in shining armor). Also, if you have read the Zelda comic books made by Nintendo Magazine when Zelda a Link to the Past came out. You would
see that Links parents were royalty. So if Link doesn't marry Zelda, than who is left; Ruto, Saria, Nabooru. No, they are all sages, that leaves one person left who really had no purpose at all but to be known, Malon. Could I be right?

I have had this question ever since The ocarina of time first came out and if you can't answers it I hope you can ask Mr. Miyamoto this question. The big updates occured some time ago, when other Zelda sites barely mentioned the game. Besides when there's something to inform about the game we don't make major updates, we make MAJORA'S updates. Get it?

Just so you know, I live in Atlanta GA and demos of Majora's Mask are now in most of the stores, and is expected to come out later this month. October 26th, I believe.

just wondering if anyone has ever beaten link's awakening without obtaining the sword?
I'm close. i have 6-7 of the instruments. it's really hard using the screen-warp trick, because you don't know exactally how all the underground levels are connected. i also have trouble with the trading game, as i can't seem to trade the stick for the honeycomb. but i have almost everything else. so i'm just wondering if anyone else has gotten this far or further.

WOW! Without a sword??? I didn't know you could actually do that! And about beating OoT with that few stuff...if Link would have existed like that on reality he wouldn't be the Hero of Time, he would be The Idiot of Time. Quite a hard work you did beating the game like that.

The game hasn't even been released yet. How do you know all this stuff? You guys know more about it than nintendo does.

Well, we just imported the japanese version of the game which was released a long time ago. Have you seen the NINTENDEKU button down there? well, you can also import your japanese games if you press the button. PRESS THE BUTTON!!! No. You can download a ROM (Is that illegal anyway?) but you can't play it online. You would if there was a 2 player mode (Snes9x emulator allows you too)

In the Kokiri Forest Shop there are three sizes of arrow packages. one of them is 50. Where do you find a bag or something else that carries the 50 arrows. Where do you get it?

Just wanted to drop you a line. I was searching for info on the BS Zelda games, and happened upon your website. I have to say, it is simply the coolest page I have ever seen. The animation, sound, and that kickass shockwave intro are just unparalleled.. I've been online, and part of the online/internet/web based community since I was a subscriber to an obscure New York Times dialup service in 1983, so I've seen a lot of content.
"Hyrule Land Of Zelda"; is easily one of the finest examples I have seen.

Creo que su pagina de internet en Español esta un poco incompleta y lo digo en serio, por que la que esta en ingles esta más completa, me gustaria que tengan la misma información en español por que los Latinos y Españoles tenemos el mismo derecho que los Estados Unidenses (por ejemplo) en tener la misma información, y no solo en el Zelda, si no en todos los video Juegos por igual . Y no estamos conformes con el Pokémon Red y Blue en castellano nada más en America.
Y otra cosa por que en America Latina tiene que ser los video juegos tan caros, los de Playstaion (por ejemplo) son re baratos, y les puedo asegurar que hay más personas que compran la Playstation que la Nintendo 64, creo que esta es una gran crisis para la empresa Nintendo y deberían bajar los precios, se los agradesere si se lo dicen a la empresa Nintendo de Japon o Estados Unidos y se los agradeceré más si me contestan lo siguiente:
1-¿ hay una empresa Nintendo en España ? si es así se ahorran el trabajo de ir a Estados Unidos o Japon ¿y en Argentina hay una?
2-En Zelda ¿ se puede ir de chiquito a Gerudo fortress?
3-Zelda Majora Mask ¿cuantas mazmoras tendra? ¿y aparecerán los tunic Goron y Zora?

Bueno Germán, antes que nada gracias por tu carta. Me sorprendió mucho lo que dijiste de la sección en español, no por lo del contenido sino por lo del hecho de que encontraste esa sección! Lo digo porque hace tiempo que la tenemos cerrada al público, y por consiguiente no deberías haberla encontrado!!! De cualquier forma vamos a incorporar algo de esa información en español al sitio principal, pero eso tomará algún tiempo. Esa sección tuvo que ser cancelada por falta de tiempo, no nos es fácil trabajar en un sitio y menos en dos!
Los videojuegos de Nintendo por el momento son más caros debido a el formato de cartucho, además de que no es tan fácil de conseguir "Pirata" como los del PlayStation. Pero eso va a cambiar con el NINTENDO GAMECUBE.
No hay tal crisis con Nintendo ya que a pesar de los inconvenientes siguen teniendo juegos dentro de los top 10 de Japón y América.
Respondiendo a tus otras preguntas:
1- Nintendo si tiene representantes en España. En Argentina también, sin embargo no le hechan muchas ganas que digamos...
2- Normalmente no puedes ir de chiquito a Gerudo Fortress (En Zelda: Ocarina of Time) a menos que uses un código de Gameshark. Haz click aquí para ver lo que se puede hacer con algunos trucos para Link de niño.
3- Majora´s Mask no tiene tantos "dungeons" o mazmorras como otros juegos, sin embargo tienes aún más para explorar que en otros! Si quieres ver todo lo que tiene éste juego haz click aquí
Te puedes convertir en Deku, en Zora y en Goron además de que tienes muchisimas máscaras más para divertirte por meses!
