A very VERY! Serious SERIOUS Situation has evolved!!!

Helllooo, people who work at htloz.com and the people who go there. Now, I would like to tell you an opinion of mine, and I'm not so sure you would even care but, it is important. When I first played Zelda: OoT, I thought it was fun, and challenging. When I got to the part when I was out of the Kokiri forest, I had no clue what to do. So, I went on my computer, and looked up some sites for help. Of course, from the wonderful advertisemnts the site puts up, I went to Htloz.com. I totally got what I wanted and much ¡ more! I got all the way to the WaterTemple without any help. So, I went back to this site, and I, again, got all the help I needed. Well, while I was printing out the things I needed to beat the WaterTemple, I sorda wandered around on your site. I thought that the other things on htloz.com were very neat! Like the stories, the pictures, the interacitve things, it was all cool. But, then I went to the Letters from the fans to your website about the zelda games, or so I though that was what they were about...
I just didn't understand it! Some people were writing their thoughts about zelda, but, then there were people who I had no clue what they were talking about! I am not saying that speaking your mind is a horrible thing but, c`mon! Complaining about the staff, who work hard on the site everyday, and things about this person is a jerk, or about how to spell WORDS!? paaallllEASE! I think that the letters to the editors or staff, whatever, should be something senseless, meaning you should CALM DOWN ON YER MIND! I thought that every person who liked to play zelda games was exactly like me. I thought it was fun, exciting, and totally hard and that it was just something that you should just...enjoy. Everyone is making it a huge deal, which is really taking out the fun in Zelda, because their opinions will affect the people who are "true fans" to the games, because that person might change (his or hers)mind about zelda, who then, express their dumb thinking to the poor editors who have to read it and need to give a damn, when they don't have to because...IT ISN'T A BIG DEAL! And I know some people will say, well it's their job...that is no reason whatso ever. I really think that people should just relax, and have fun with the games! Then, you would see it isn't such a huge deal after all but, just something to do after school, on the weekends, and most important of all, to have fun.
I hope you think about that, everyone.

Thank you editors on htloz for your time.

P.S... I love your site a lot htloz, and keep up the very good work you put
into it. :)
Cataria Ell
catariaell444@hotmail.com

Hey! Did you realize you spelled 'please' wrong. ;)

Well, I just joined up with this outfit, but I'd remit the due credit to the staff's accomplishments that have made HTLOZ the site it is today.

Music in future Zelda games

I just downloaded the mp3 files of the Zelda Cd.
Why cant nintendo put this exellent music to the zelda games in the nintendo 64?
Can they put this music in future Dolphin Zelda games?
Juan Sebastian Rocha
juans@cable.net.co

Not a question of "can they," obviously," but a question of "willthey." For Dolphin, smart money's betting on a resounding "yes." With the N64, however, clearly they're working with a limited amount of space being the cartridge-based console it is. To make Z64 (either one, the original or MM) the masterpiece it was meant to be certain sacrifices had to be made, and cetain departments are inevitably hit by this.

That would be sweet.

Need some help

I've had some trouble with level 7 in the original Zelda.  I've been using your directions to get around, and I can't get to the boss.  Your directions are to go right from the room where you go down stairs to get the red candle, move the center stone, and climb the stairs.  However, this room to the right of the "candle room" has no stone that I can find. Your site has been a vital source for my Zelda gaming, and I enjoy visiting it.  I hope you can help me.
Ce1tic16@cs.com

*looks confused* I wrote it as I did it! I can't be wrong! Or can I? I will try and update the walkthrough with some pictures of dunegons and the overworld. Just wait, I'll update it.

Generations

I just wanted to clarify why people believe in the different generations of Link and Zelda.  At the end of OOT, Ganon says, "I will have revenge on your descendants" (or something like that).  As the storylines in future games note, Ganon is trapped in the Dark World.  How did he get there?  Link's ancestor in OOT.  This theory would explain why Zelda doesn't know who Link is in LTTP and the 1987 original; because they are separate generations. It makes sense, but I may be proved wrong when "128-bit Zelda" comes out, which is supposedly a sequel to Zelda II.
Dax20798@aol.com

I might inquire where you "supposedly" heard that, but while we're on that note, for all intents and purposes based on all available information, the forthcoming Gameboy Color trilogy seems to almost certainly be a sequel to Zelda II, and if not featuring Link III and Zelda IV (from LoZ and AoL), then a future generation of them.

Timeline theories

Ok my first point, If the creator of Zelda says that he made the games in a certain way he probly did or he was trying to get away from the press, anyway don't go against what the MAKER of Zelda says.

My second point, He probly didn't think he would make sequels so if he ment it to go in a timeline and if he did he would have to bend it to fit the preveous one. For example he had to put ALTtP before the original and the second because ganon was dead and the original played into the second one.  Than Links awakening comes so you can assume that its either before or after LTtP probly after because it goes in a patern, 1goes into2 and then 3 goes in before1and 2 and than goes into 4 then goes to 5(OoT)witch is before 3 and 4 than goes to 6(MM).
So I think the order might be 5,6,3,4,1,2 witch follows the pattern 2,2,2.
well I hope you get it strait that The Creator didn't have all the games layed out from day one.please post this.
Future Link
meeky@netzero.com

Do you like chicken?

Obviously he didn't have it laid out from day one. See my Q&A on this in the Continuity FAQ via the history section if it's up at the time you read this.

Yes, I think you are right. Some think that the Zelda and Link in OoT are actually Zelda's and Link's ancestors.

One question about cartoons of Zelda

Hi: My name is Julieta Galindo, and I want to ask a question: If there will be cartoons for Zelda? Another thing, I want to congratulate you for this site that is one of the most cool of all.
Julieta Galindo
gasa3@prodigy.net.mx

There used to be cartoons, but they aren't on anymore. Although there are some sites trying to get it back.

The question should be "will there be *more* Zelda cartoons? With the popularity of OoT and the sure-hit that Majora's Mask will be as soon as it hits stateside, Nintendo would be fools not to. I'm sure there must be some kind of anime Zelda cartoons of some form in Japan, but we've been lacking here since the Olden Days of gamin' (remember? Worlds of Power books, Nintendo cereal, Captain N? No? C'mon, this was Darkwing Duck/Talespin/Ghostbusters/TMNT days).

Well, I used to watch Zelda cartoons when I was a kid. They actually existed, or at least here in Spain. There where only 13 episodes, and I understand that, as those cartoons where awfull. Link's and Zelda's attitudes where ridiculous. Can you belive that in one episode Zelda actually gets mad at Link because he didn't clean his room. Oh, please, not to mention the "Excuuuuuuse meeee princess" Link used to do in every episode.
I am sorry, but I hope that someday Zelda gets a cartoon based on it that are as good as the games. For now on, just pray. But if Pokemon did, why wouldn't Zelda?

Kaepora Gaebora?

Hey, First I just want to say I love your site.  Who the hell is this Kaepora Gaebora guy and where can I find him?  Is that the owl's name?  Nowhere in the game does the owl say his name is kaepora gaebora so where did that name come from?  Please help me!

Thanks,
Tyson
tysonsmith54@hotmail.com

Form a forthcoming HTLOZ project of mine : "According to a Hyrulean gossip stone, Kaepora Gaebora is said to be one of the ancient sages once alongside Rauru, Kaepora Gaebora now takes on the form of a wizened owl as he flies around Hyrule giving advice to those who need it. This mysterious owl helped Link I early on his quest [OoT], then later provided helpful advice to Link II when he became temporarily stranded on Koholint Island [LA]."

I don't remember if it was the owl who said his name or if it was one of the stones you get to talk with when you obtain the Mask of Truth. But I think they actually say it.

I think Kaepora Gaebora is actually Rauru. Doesn't mean Rauru is dead and has reincarnated in an Owl. Of course he's not dead. He just seem to use the shape of an Owl to give advice to the people that lives on the earth.

New zelda figures

Hi, I was wondering where to buy the new Zelda: Ocarina of Time action figures that were pictured on the site.  Thank you!
Princess Lelda
princesslelda@hotmail.com

Those one stores. Ya know? The stores, those umm, stores. Err yeah.

Need Maps

Why don't you have much information about the 2nd quest on your website?
I need the map of the castles in the 2nd quest.

thanks
Bigguy6945469133@aol.com

I'll get your pics up soon. Just wait.

Majora's Mask doubts

HTLOZ is awesome and I just want to say this:

1. I have gotten pretty far in Majora's Mask and I have just gotten the ice arrows in the third dungeon. Through playing the game, I found out that there is two others girls in the game, will something happen? There is the Malon look alike, and the girl who wears the Keaton Mask. She takes off her mask to Link, and from what it appears she doesn't go in public with out it...hmmm. The Malon girl is also saved  by aliens/poes, do to Link. Will anything happen? probably not.

2. I haven't became interested in Zelda until about 2 years ago. So OoT is my favorite. I Like the medieval atmosphere. MM doesn't really have it? there are Cameras (Link's awakening was in a dream so it doesn't count) ,telescopes, and there are no castles. I might be alone here, but MM could be almost be modern.

3. I end on this point... regardless if Link and Zelda are not related, nothing happened at the end of OoT probably because Link is a ten year old inside a 17 year old body, and that would violate laws in America which might apply in Hyrule, too. But seriously I think they aren't related  becuase of the 80s cartoons and just a personal opinion.

Thank you,
Chezzie B
ChezzieB@aol.com

2. Well they are in a different world you know. So they are in a different time period than Hyrule.
3. I still think they are!

3. There seems to be a stigma about this, but evidently once you're a sage you can't marry. Apart from that, Nintendo seems to have a stigma about purposely flaunting Zelda, yet never allowing her and Link to hook up. You know... kinda like Mario & Princess Toadstool? Always in need of rescuing, and once you rescue her, you get a kiss if yer lucky (though Link doesn't
even seem to be that lucky - any of the three of them so far with any of the four Zeldas that've come along), then it's on to rescue her in the next game.

1. The keaton mask character is not a girl, it's a boy. But I still think he looks like a she. : )
3. I agree with Blazer, I think they are related!

The fourth mask in Majora's Mask

Okay I'm going to be quick about this. in majora's mask there is a fourth mask that transforms Link. In the japenese game i believe they call this the Kochin mask.  If you look at a picture of a full mask subscreen you'll see this mask at the bottom right corner it kind've look like an adult Link mask.
LYN2BOWL@aol.com

I don't think it transforms you. I accidently deleted my game a few days ago, so now I'm back at dungeon one, with only four masks

Another mask that transforms Link?? Hmmm...it sounds pretty weird.

Yes, it's an adult Link Mask. Before the final battle you will need to have all the mini dungeons completed and all the other masks to earn it! Will you actually get the shape of an adult Link? He he he... I think it will be better if you find out for yourself. ;)

The annoying baby Goron

Just wanted to let you know that I am a huge Zelda fan and a graphic designer who works with Flash on a daily basis. You've combined my two favorites with such coolness that I can't begin tell you how it makes me smile. You should have (if you don't already) a page on the site where a person can go and just view all of the Flash movies that you've created.

Again, cool work -- this latest Majora intro is just too cool!

PS. I must criticize one thing, however... the baby Goron cries way too much. Put a limit on the number of loops of saiding crying or have a "TURN OFF ALL SOUNDS" button close at hand. The kid's been crying the whole time I've writing email!

PSS. Again, very cool work!!
James Gowan
jgowan@empiremedia.net

Just click the big dad lookin goron. He gets mad and picks up and baby and throws his away. =)

It is always a pleasure to receive this kind of letters. And I agree with you about that baby Goron. We are planning a variation in the one you can shoot his head off. Just kidding.

You can click the big Goron and he will shut up the baby!! That is fun!! I love doing that!! : )
Also check out the other ones (dekus and zoras) if you click the right stuff, something will happen. : )

He he, well as you may discover, the site is full of secrets. There's also a rumor that you can actually get the three pieces of the triforce if you look for hidden clues...

Golden Skulltulas

Hi.I read your site everyday.
I have a question about Ocarina of Time.
If you plant the seeds in those soil spots around hyrule when your a kid,can you still put a bug in there to get the spiders?and if you cant, what can you do to still get 100 of them?
DataDyne2k@aol.com

You can still put the bug in it to get the skulltula, or at least you can as a kid.

You still can get the 100 itsy bitsy spiders!! Just put a bug when you are a kid.

Convert fanfics

Could you please consider that we don't all have PCs and make some in Simpletext form?
Poe_PoP
gwazz@teleport.com

Well that's no fun at all... takes the adventure right out of it. :)

If you wan't to keep your Mac away from Word (Something I understand, considering the awfull amount of bugs it has) try to use the new version of Apple Works, which I think it can open .doc documents.

You can also get the world famous Macintosh translator: MacLink Plus, that translates .doc documents. The reason why most of the fanfics are published as .doc is because this format allows you to keep the fanfics original text, color and even embedded images format that .txt files can't handle.

Zelda would make a great movie!

Now some people out there might say" It's a video game like that corny Mortal Kombat!" I beg to differ. I mean X-Men is old, but yet as we speak, it is about to hit movie theatres! And if Patrick Stewart and Halle Berry can do X-Men, why not Leonardo DiCaprio(Link, he looks like an elf anyway) and that dude from the Green Mile( he's big and tall and needs just green makeup) do Legend of Zelda?  mean you don't have to do all the Zelda games in one movie, but make something like OoT! I would definately see it. C'mon, They brought back Shaft and made that cool Titan AE and they haven't bombed! Who's with me?
Krystal-Angel13@webtv.net

Well, lots of games could be great movies. I just hope that if there is ever a Zelda movie, Leonardo DiCaprio dosen't play Link (We should get Danni DeVito). However, just remember how awfully bad movies based on videogames are. Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat...now, those where quite bad. And after the failure of the Super Mario Bros movie I seriously doubt Nintendo is going to allow producers to do more movies that are not based on Pokemom. But...wouldn't it be great if they did a GOOD Zelda movie?
They actually did do some animated series, but that "anime" was one of the worst I've watched.

Leonardo DiCaprio??? naaahh...
But Shadik is right, movies with real actors are BAD, specially if they are based on a videogame. A good (and I mean GOOD) anime would work for a Zelda movie.

Zelda comic

I don't know if you remember me, but I sent you a letter several months ago asking for the CD-i screen shots.  I don't know if I thanked you before, but I will thank you now for the amazing speed at which you responded to my request.  I mean, those pics were up in no time flat, and my understanding is that it's no piece of cake to find those games anywhere.

I had one other reflection that I wanted to share with you.  I used to read the Zelda comics in Nintendo Power over and over.  The artwork I realize could have been better, but it was excellent in a certain respect. There was just something so mesmerizing about them.  I was extremely surprised when I started checking your page and found out that you had a comic there.

I mean--don't take this the wrong way--the Zelda cartoons used to get me going hardcore.  There is just something so awesome about Zelda that churns in every gamers heart..... well, enough preaching.

I was just wondering if you could make a new comic.  People loved the old one, and it would just be so awesome to be able to print out your stuff and have a totally awesome Zelda comic right in front of me to read time and time again.     Your art is some of the best I have ever seen.  I know it's work, but I have a lot of faith in your site.  I think it's time to show the people what The Land of Zelda is made of.
BlinDigger@aol.com

Thanks and more thanks for your comments. We try to please our fans and give them what they are asking for. A Zelda comic means a lot of work, anyway I am not the artist. Maybe one day we can have one... let's dream.

Wow

Hey guys i love love love your site i have it bookmarked and i have known about it since the begginning please keep up the good work you have inspired me to make a zelda site
Bob Blackstone
bstone2@zipcon.net

...one word... Thanks. : )

Thanks. We are glad our site has inspired you. Now, go ahead with your own ideas and concepts and you will have an original creation in your hands. That's what counts in the world of an artist. Creation!

Another Link and Zelda theory

I just thought of this, if Link and Zelda fell in love in any of the games besides Adventures of Link (which is last in chronological order, unless the Dolphin game is takes place after that) It would ruin the love setup for every other game because if they fell in love in one of the first games, the game after that, Link and Zelda would be brother and sister, if you go by the theory that there is a Link and Zelda I, II, and III. So Miayamato should not make them fall in love until the very last game in the LOZ  series (don't get me wrong though, I hope they never stop making LOZ games.) For now Link should just stick with Saria and Malon.
cleat
CAbb71@aol.com

I hope there is not a 'very last game in the LOZ series.

Not necessarily true in regard to every Zelda & Link thereafter being related. Why is that? By Zelda II's booklet, we learn that *every* female borne into the royal Hyrulean household receives the name "Zelda," not And who's to say there's not various branches branching out from the base of Link's family tree that could produce a subsequent new "Link" unrelated to the Zelda in question? Real answer = thinking too much about stuff like this makes your brain hurt As I sincerely doubt Nintendo would ever release and tout a future Zelda game as, "This is it, guys! This is the FINAL Zelda game! This is the final episode, where Link finally wins Zelda's love and triumphs over evil once and for all," and then go on to keep making new Nintendo consoles without new additions to the classic Zelda series, and otherwise don't think any kind of meaningful relationship is anywhere on Miyamoto's list of priorities plotwise, I wouldn't hold your breath. Would be nice though, wouldn't it?

Zelda music

hey wuz ^ im just requesting help from some of ur experts about the music cd's from Zelda, i cant make up my mind about which of the cds should i buy, im stuck between both the japanese soundtrack or the one with the strings(the hyrule orchestra) and i can only choose 1 of them so i dont know what 2 do, and since u have probably heard both of them so im asking which onez better. I hope 2 receive a reply soon!!!!!!!!!!!

thank u very very much:-)
JW
Prometheus1121@aol.com

There are many things up. The sky, clouds, airplanes, roofs, birds etc. Ermm, anyways, it's up to you what you want. Just ask yourself this: Do you like string insturments? If you answer no, then get the Jap. one.

Hmmmm..., personally I think the second one is the best option. I have the Japanese soundtrack of the game, and believe me, it only has the songs you have got tired of listening again and again in the game.

Personally I think the best is a classic style...string instruments!!

More Zelda and Link theories

Hey great site. Anyway some people believe Zelda and Link are syblings. Eww. A Zelda game that takes place latter(The Adventure of Link) has Link and Zelda get together, and supposidly that Zelda who was asleep was the same in ocarina of time. Wouldn't her getting togerther with her brother's desendent be incestful. That would be nasty. I believe that the Link in TOoT marries Malon because notice Lon Lon Ranch is in the same place as Link's cottage in ALttP. hmm. As for the triforce, Myonmoto says the order is TOoT, Zelda 1, AoL, then ALttP; and in the first Zelda Ganon mysteriously has the triforce of power so eventually there would have to be a game without the trifoce right.

Anyway more proof zelda and link are not related. In ALttP it says that the hero of time is desended from the legendary knights of Hyrule not royalty. So when Link's mom went to the kokiri forest his father was fighting in the war, and how do we know that Zelda has no mom. Just because she isint mentioned dosen't mean she isn't there. And link was sent to the forest many years before and the Deku Tree just kept him from aging past the age of ten. If there was a war a few years ago the why does every one but ganondorf hate each other instead of geting along, and why are there no signs of war recently. Well bye again.

Well i say again you have a great site that is far superior to others. bye.
Bloodlust
hotpepper@ameritech.net

To comment on the Zelda asleep in AoL being the same Zelda in OoT... if one is saying Link & Zelda are brothers... then you're saying Link is the prince brother described and shown in AoL's manual that put her to sleep upon taking the throne from his dead father, the king.
